Escape

I have always been drawn to the beach as a refuge and place to relax and recharge. The empty horizon, the space, the fresh salty air; they seem to deliver an almost instant relaxation to any visitor. When the business drops away and out of mind an eye opening awareness kicks in, we start looking around us, we notice the little things, we pick up shells or rocks and examine their shape and texture. All the little details take us far far away from the here and now, away from the mundane day to day and we drift into a deeper awareness.

I am lucky enough to live close by the beach and can experience this escape from reality frequently. I wanted to create images that create this dreamy and at the same time curious state of mind, images that take you back to the piece and quiet like a day dream of that perfect summer holiday.
